Recently, we started to do quite a few and also quite long tours by bike. For this reason, we decided to test if we like long bike tours that span a few days. As we do not have real equipment for such adventures (yet), we arranged a two day test trip from Mittenwald via Bad Tölz back to Munich. Essentially, this is a part of the Isarradweg. There are GPX tracks available on the website of the Isarradweg.
Day 1: Mittenwald -> Bad Tölz
The first “stage” is really spectacular. You start in Mittenwald, which is a really nice town and actually worth visiting, but as our train arrived pretty late (1pm), we decided to start the tour without visiting town. The first 10 kilometers are really enjoyable as you cycle mostly downhill =)
After something like 15 Kilometers you reach the toll boot for the small road between Wallgau and Vorderriss. I guess that road is one of the most scenic ones I know! OK, there was some car traffic, but it was really okay.
10 km later, the toll road ends. Unfortunately, there is not much of an alternative to using the B307 for a couple of kilometers until you reach the Silvenstein Speicher. Luckily, there was not much traffic and despite riding on a Bundesstraße (and some ascends), this part of the tour was also quite enjoyable and scenic.

One of my favorite gadgets I bought recently: a smartphone mount for my bike. Highly recommended!
Right after the Silvenstein Speicher, there starts a very nice bike path down to Lengries. Once you are in Lengries, you are back to the Isar Auen, where it is also very pretty.
After something like 60km, you reach Bad Tölz, which is a pretty nice town as well.
Day 2: Bad Tölz -> Munich
Admittedly, the second stage of the trip is not as spectacular/beautiful as the first one. Well, almost nothing beats that small toll road. However, the roads were super nice to ride, only paths for bikes or small side roads with no traffic. So very enjoyable.
Unfortunately, the second stage has some more ascends and, hence, is more strenuous than the first stage.
I guess this is one of the places where they start rafts with tourists and beer on board.
Ah, Munich.
Small pit stop at the Chinesischer Turm.
